Hakuba Iwatake Mountain Resort
A panoramic view of the Northern Japan Alps from 2,200 meters up.
This is the only terrace in Hakuba that looks directly out to the Hakuba Sanzan mountains, offering incredible views during all four seasons. Here you can enjoy Hakuba Valley’s famous three-tiered autumn scenery: white snow up top, red leaves in the middle, and greenery down below.
You’ll get lost in time as you explore the terrace, cafe, and all that this remarkable mountain resort has to offer.
HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR
Enjoy sweeping views of the Northern Japan Alps in all their seasonal magnificence from this scenic lookout terrace. You can even take pictures from the extended deck to make it look like you’re floating! This is the best place in Hakuba to see the Karamatsuzawa Snow Valley, which was designated as a glacier in 2019.
THE CITY BAKERY
A popular bakery from New York that made its Nagano debut at HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR. At this location you can enjoy a Nagano-exclusive menu featuring local ingredients, in addition to seasonal menus.
Iwatake Green Park
A mountaintop resort park blessed with greenery. Enjoy a meal at the Scenic Picnic Lounge, rent out the Private Deck for an unforgettable time, get some work done at the Forest Terrace, a space equipped with Wi-Fi and outlets, and experience forest sports at the Beech Forest Park. There’s no place better than the great outdoors.
Pet-Friendly Areas
At the top of the mountain you’ll find a pet-friendly area for dogs, in addition to the Forest Dog Run. Of course your dogs are welcome to ride the gondola lift with you.The HAKUBA MOUNTAIN HARBOR terrace is also pet-friendly, so you’ll be able to enjoy the magnificent nature of Hakuba Valley with the whole family.
Happo Usagidaira
Accessible via the Happo gondola.
At an altitude of 1,400 m, you’ll be able to look out onto Hakuba Village and the majestic mountains of Nagano.
Enjoy stylish cafes and restaurants, and even a stargazing program at night.

HAKUBA MOUNTAIN BEACH
A beach resort on top of a mountain. This is the place to go for relaxing beach vibes, cool drinks, and delicious food made from local ingredients. Try the gondola-style sauna, a rarity even in Japan, and warm up with a dip in the jacuzzi.
Corona Escape Terrace
A must-visit spot at Happo’s Usagidaira for panoramic views of the majestic mountains and Hakuba Village down below. In summer, paragliders take flight right next to the terrace, bringing about an air of excitement.
Stargazing
Take a gondola up to the starry night sky. With two programs available, you can join a seasonal astronomical show or a limited-time meteor shower show, both hosted by professional guides.
Kurobishi Skyline
Drive your car to a spectacular view at an altitude of 1,500m.
After taking a break from driving at Kurobishi Skyline Viewpoint, take the lift to Kurobishi daira. When you exit the lift, turn right and stroll to the “Unkai Deck” where you can gaze at the magnificent view of Hakuba San Zan (Hakuba Three Peaks).
In the early morning you can even see a sea of clouds!
In the opposite direction as you walk toward the Grat quad lift enter the Kamaike Marshland and you can see many alpine plants unique to Happo-one.
Alpen glow sunrise lift
Enjoy the morning view from Kurobishi Unkai Deck. Grab your camera and go for a morning walk. Kurobishi #3 pair lift will be open for 10 days this summer.

Kamaike Marshlands
This is a popular photo spot where you can see the reflection of Hakuba Sanzan on the surface of the marshland. The marshland is beautifully colored by yellow and white lilies in summer and the vibrant colors of leaves in autumn.
Driving route with a spectacular view
Kurobishi Forest Road is about 9km long and takes about 30 minutes to drive by car.
With an elevation difference of 760m, a series of spectacular views pop out as you make your way up the mountain. Kurobishi is a great place to visit to enjoy different sceneries throughout the year from July until mid-October.
Cortina English Garden
A natural forest at the foot of the Northern Japan Alps.
Surrounded by woodlands, this seasonal garden is filled with peace and quiet.
Enjoy fresh greenery and blooming flowers in summer; rustling leaves, bird calls, and fiery hues in autumn; and dramatic landscapes leading into the harsh winter season.
English Garden
The English Garden was designed by Mark Chapman, who previously served as Nagano Prefecture’s head gardener for English-style gardens. Take a leisurely stroll while watching the garden grow and change with the seasons.
15 Gardens
Including the Entrance Garden, the Rose Garden, and the Secret Garden, there are 15 gardens for visitors to enjoy. These areas highlight the beauty of harmony with nature.

Hakuba Goryu Alpine Botanical Garden
An alpine botanical garden where you can enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Northern Japan Alps and the precious alpine plants that bloom from early summer to autumn. At an altitude of 1,515 m, this garden is easily accessible via Telecabin, an 8-seater gondola.
Alpine Plants
Check out more than 300 species, and nearly 2 million alpine plants–blue poppies, said to grow naturally at an altitude of 4,000 m in the Himalayas; Dicentra peregrina, the queen of alpine plants; and edelweiss, one of the three major flowers of Switzerland. Come and see these wonders in full bloom.
Escal Garden
Hakuba Goryu Escal Plaza overlooks a beautiful garden covered with blooming flowers. It is a romantic sanctuary where you can take a leisurely stroll amidst the chimes of the Bell of Happiness. (No admission charge)
Night Gondola
Ride a gondola through the summer night sky, and enter a fairy tale world where contours of the Nothern Japan Alps stand against the backdrop of a star-filled sky.
